Friday, June 18, 2010 - Squats with Chains

I got home from the slope last night and wanted to get started on this two week training cycle with a good start. I went in to Anchorage to Arctic Wire to get some 5/8" chain to help motivate me. They didn't have any 5/8" but the guy had some "scrap" pieces of 3/4" chain that he sold me for $5 a foot. I bought a couple of 5' sections. Each section weighs 27 pounds and is just amazing to train with.

I wasn't feeling very strong at all but it did feel good to get back to doing some squats. I setup the chain to completely deload on the beginning sets and the finished with five sets of five where the chain was free swinging to help strengthen my trunk (NOT my core).

Squat (Wide Rip Stance) - All sets have 50 pounds of chain.
Bar x 5, 135x5, 225x5, 315x5, 315x3, 335x1

225 + 50 pounds of chain - Set up to free swing with no deload at the bottom.
5, 5, 5, 5, 5

315+50# Chain x 5
